An annual outdoor concert and fireworks show is returning to Ogden next week.

It's the 37th year of the Lindquist Family Symphony Pops and Fireworks show — otherwise known as Weberfest.

The event at Weber State University is slated for July 12 at 9 p.m. at the Ada Lindquist Plaza. It will feature an hour-long concert by the New American Philharmonic, which will play Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" — complete with a battery of 17 cannons.

The celebration is especially important this year, said Weber State events coordinator Bev Rudd. It will honor Telitha Lindquist, the Ogden philanthropist who died earlier this year.

Steve Park, the philharmonic's associate conductor, said the show is sure to be a unifying force.

"Regardless of our religious or political beliefs," Park said in a prepared statement, "we can all come together for an evening to enjoy a celebration of this great and free country."

The performance will be followed by a 10 p.m. fireworks show.

The field opens to the public at 6 p.m. and beverages will be available for purchase. Pets are not allowed.

On-campus parking is available but limited. Listeners also can tune in at home or on the road.

The concert will be broadcast live on KWCR 88.1 Weber FM. —
