A boy was seriously hurt after reportedly jumping from a high cliff into Echo Reservoir.

About 3 p.m. Sunday, the boy jumped from a cliff on the southwestern part of the Summit County lake, and "landed wrong," said Joy Ray, proprietor of the Echo Reservoir Resort.

"They claim he has no feeling in any part of his body right now," Ray said. "We're hoping it's wrong. But right now, that's the latest."

A medical helicopter arrived and flew him to a Salt Lake City hospital.

"The rangers caution people and caution people, and they put signs up and everything, but [people] still jump from the cliffs," Ray said.

Ray did not know how old the boy is.
