A man was seriously hurt Sunday after crashing his pickup truck into a Holladay hair salon — which was going to have its grand opening Monday.

The man was turning south from 6100 South onto Van Winkle Expressway when, for some reason, he veered into the far outside lanes, then across the northbound lanes and into the hair salon, said Unified Police Detective Jared Richardson.

About 12:15 p.m., his full-size pickup crashed through the front of the business, near the intersection.

"Fortunately, it was closed for today," Richardson said, adding that from what he understands, "they were looking to have their big opening [on Monday]."

The man was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police are still investigating the crash.
