Farmington • A Layton man who drove his pickup truck up the steps of the state Capitol two years ago will serve jail time for the marijuana grow authorities later found in his basement.

Weston Gerald Green, 38, pleaded guilty in April to counts of drug possession and exposing a child or vulnerable adult to drugs.

Earlier this week, a Farmington judge sentenced him to 60 days in the Davis County jail, along with three years of probation.

He was arrested in 2013 after driving up the Capitol steps and trying to enter a locked room.

When authorities searched Green's house later, they found marijuana growing in his basement.

Green was charged with criminal mischief and reckless driving in connection with his arrest at the Capitol. Those charges were recently dismissed, however, after he completed community service and committed no other crimes during the last year.
