Springville police arrested their suspect in a weekend stabbing, after finding him at a home where he was allegedly hiding out.

Police arrested the man Tuesday night at a home in Spanish Fork where "he was hiding out," according to a Wednesday news release. Detectives had asked for the public's help finding the suspect earlier this week.

Officers also took four other people into custody — under suspicion of obstruction of justice — for allegedly concealing the man's location. They were all booked into the Utah County jail.

Police Lt. Dave Caron said the stabbing took place about 6 p.m. Sunday after the 22-year-old victim walked to a neighbor's home and began arguing with a resident over an undisclosed matter. The suspect came out of the home and joined the dispute, at one point pulling a knife.

The homeowner ordered everyone to leave. As the victim complied, walking away, the suspect allegedly followed him and lunged with his knife, stabbing him just under his left rib cage.

The victim went to a nearby home to call 911 and the suspect fled on foot, Caron said.

The victim's family has told police that the knife barely missed his heart. He remained in serious condition Monday at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
