A 17-year-old girl was killed and five passengers were injured, one critically, when her speeding SUV missed a curve and rolled several times late Thursday night near Lehi.

Utah County sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon that four of the car's occupants, including deceased driver Maryah Hayley Edwards of Lehi, were ejected when the northbound car rolled, end over end, about 11 p.m. after missing a curve near 2275 N. Dry Creek Way (600 East).

Jayden Farrell, 17, of Lehi, was flown by helicopter to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, where he underwent surgery for a broken neck and back. He was in extremely critical condition Friday, Cannon said.

Two other male teens were taken by ground ambulance to IMC with non-life-threatening injuries, while two teen girls sustained minor injuries.

Cannon said evidence indicates the car was traveling in excess of 50 mph in a 20 mph zone when it crashed and rolled on the winding, shoulderless two-lane road.

The crash was witnessed by the driver of an approaching car. That driver described seeing the SUV's headlights disappear amid a cloud of debris.

That witness helped provide CPR to the girl, but paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Cannon said that it did not initially appear that alcohol or drugs were factors, but the accident investigation was ongoing.
