Salt Lake City police are asking for the public's help in identifying and locating a person of interest in the shooting death of Anthony Paul Hernandez, whose body was found near the Jordan River earlier this month.

Detectives have declared that 36-year-old Hernandez's death was a homicide.

Two passers-by discovered Hernandez's remains on June 1 on the east bank of river, just off a trail near 800 North and Riverside Drive (about 1460 West).

Detectives have sought and interviewed others in the case over the past couple weeks, but on Thursday they released what a commuter rail security camera image of a new person of interest.

In addition to getting tips about the individual, investigators also want to hear from anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Hernandez on May 30, the Sunday before his body was found.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call 801-799-3000, or to anonymously text TIPSLCPD to 274637.
