A 20-year-old woman was fatally injured Monday in a crash off a cliff on a rural road in Washington County.

Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the dirt road, which leads to Toquerville Falls, after the driver of the car, 21-year-old Mark James Wyler, called 911 at 6:22 a.m. to report the accident.

When deputies arrived, they found that Cierra Perez, of Santa Clara, was dead at the scene, Chief Deputy Shauna Jones said.

Wyler was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies said it appeared the vehicle had gone out of control, off a cliff and plunged about 100 feet down rugged terrain before coming to rest at the bottom of a ravine.

Deputies and Utah Highway Patrol troopers were cooperating in investigating the cause of the accident.

Neither Wyler nor Perez were believed to have been wearing seat belts.
