A Cedar City woman was killed Saturday when the truck she was driving rolled on Interstate 15 near Mesquite.

A Nevada Highway Patrol news release said the 1999 Ford Ranger was southbound on I-15 when its right rear tire failed.

The truck went off the left side of the road and the driver, Ciara Jackson, 18, overcorrected to the right, causing the truck to rotate clockwise, go off the right side of the road and roll, according to the release.

Jackson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected, the news release said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 19-year-old male passenger, also from Cedar City, was transported to Mesa View Hospital with minor injuries, according to the release. Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said he was wearing his seat belt.
