Two Utah men died Thursday in separate motorcycle crashes.

In Cache County, Kenneth Lollar, of Roy, was riding his Harley-Davidson northeast through the canyon when he failed to make a left-hand curve near mile marker 474, said Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Lee Perry. Lollar's motorcycle wound up in the Logan River, and the 50-year-old was partially in the river, Perry said.

He had been riding with two other people, who turned around when the crash happened. They pulled him out of the water, realized he wasn't breathing and performed CPR until paramedics arrived and took over the life-saving measures, Perry said. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He had been wearing a partial helmet, but still suffered head trauma, Perry said.

The Highway Patrol said Lollar was a retired Air Force veteran.

In Box Elder County, Brandon L. Rose, 35, was traveling north on State Route 102 in Penrose when a minivan turned left in front of him, according to the UHP.

Rose attempted to stop and tipped the bike onto its side, striking his head on the right front wheel of the minivan. He was not wearing a helmet and suffered severe head injury, the UHP said.

Rose, of Penrose, was pronounced dead at the scene.
