Salt Lake City police are seeking a man they hope to interview in the death of a homeless man found shot to death this week near the Jordan River.

Investigators want to question Christian Fuentes, 22, in the death of Anthony Paul Hernandez, 36.

A passerby found Hernandez's body on Monday off a trail near 800 North and Riverside Drive. Investigators said he appeared to have been shot to death.

Officers have not deemed Hernandez's death a homicide, but say the death is suspicious.

In a statement released Wednesday, police wrote that Fuentes "is known to frequent the area around Riverside Park in the Rose Park area."

Fuentes is described as 5-foot-11, 155 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

"Please use caution as Fuentes is a documented gang member," police added.
