Police say a car collided with a TRAX light rail train east of downtown Salt Lake City on Tuesday afternoon.

Salt Lake City police Det. Greg Wilking says only minor injuries were reported from the collision near 400 South and 500 East.

Wilking did not have details about whether those with minor injuries were in the car or on the train, which is run by the Utah Transit Authority.

UTA spokesman Remi Barron says the car appeared to have turned left in front of the train. He said the driver and a passenger were nearby after the accident and talking to officers.

Barron says TRAX trains go relatively slowly through that downtown corridor.

He says the train service should see minimal delays from the accident.
