A South Jordan man died Saturday after his motorcycle crashed in Tooele County.

Kenneth W. Crofutt, 61, was driving east on State Route 199 when he crossed the road's edge at the fog line, about 9 miles northeast of the Dugway Proving Ground's main gate, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The edge gave way and Crofutt lost control of his Harley Davidson.

Crofutt returned to the roadway, but the motorcycle was still out of control and he dumped the bike about 2:45 p.m., according to UHP. Crofutt, who was not wearing a helmet, hit his head and died.
