Two Salt Lake City non-profits committed to ending homelessness — The Road Home and The Community Foundation of Utah — received grants Wednesday totaling $500,000.

Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and Dee O'Donnell, regional president of Wells Fargo, made the announcement at Washington Park outside City Hall.

Wells Fargo granted The Road Home $300,000 and The Community Foundation of Utah $200,000 to help prevent homelessness in Salt Lake City.

"I know support from the Wells Fargo NeighborhoodLIFT program will make a difference for Salt Lake City," the mayor said. "My hope is that projects and programs funded by these grants will help Salt Lake be known as the community that makes sure that all of the homeless get shelter and services they need."

O'Donnell said Wells Fargo is proud to do its part to help Salt Lake City neighborhoods.

"We believe these nonprofits are doing exceptional work in the community and these funds will add up to make a big impact for the Salt Lake City community," she said.
