A man was seriously hurt on Friday night in a Tooele County crash.

A semi-truck was parked on the side of westbound Interstate 80, about 12 miles west of Knolls, when a Pontiac Bonneville sideswiped the back of the trailer, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The 45-year-old driver was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the Pontiac as it rolled, UHP added in a news release.

The crash occurred about 10:30 p.m.

The driver of the Pontiac was taken to the hospital in serious condition, and has since been stabilized.

The semi-truck was out of traffic with its warning triangles out, waiting for a maintenance vehicle, according to the release. The semi's driver was in the sleeper berth when the crash occurred, and was uninjured.

Troopers are still investigating the crash.
