An Arizona man has died after his pickup truck clipped a cow and crashed in San Juan County.

Andrew Askland, 63, was heading north on State Route 261 just before midnight Thursday, when he swerved to miss a cow in the road, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

"He just clipped the cow and ran off the right side of the roadway," according to a UHP news release. Askland overcorrected and his Ford Ranger rolled, five miles south of the highway's junction with State Route 95.

Askland, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected, according to UHP.

No one else was in the Ranger, said UHP Trooper Evan Kirby.
