Summit County on Thursday lifted a "boil water" order for the 1,000 residents of the Wasatch Mountains hamlet of Oakley.

The order was lifted at about 5 p.m. County officials advised residents to run their tap water for at least 15 minutes prior to drinking.

Customers of the Oakley City Water System had been warned to boil water before using it for drinking or cooking in the wake of E. coli and coliform bacteria being found in samples tested on Monday and Tuesday, according to Katie Mullaly, spokeswoman for the Summit County Health Department.

Water workers, who have repeatedly chlorinated and flushed the system, took new samples Thursday morning.
