Best Friends Animal Society set a record for the first day of its spring NKUT (No Kill Utah) Adoption Weekend, with 159 dogs and 45 cats finding new homes.

Adoption weekend continues 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday at the Utah State Fairpark.

Best Friends and its 22 parter shelters and rescue groups have more than 800 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens ready for adoption.
