A golfer is suing South Jordan city after he was struck in the eye by a stray golf ball at Mulligans Golf & Games, causing his eye to fall out.

Golfer Tyler Simonsen was at the green of the fourth hole May 2, 2013, when a golfer teed off at the third hole. The ball struck Simonsen in his eye, according to the complaint.

"The impact fractured [Simonsen's] eye socket and caused the eye to fall out and rupture," the lawsuit states.

The lawsuit details multiple surgical measures, including a procedure to remove the injured eye and implant a prosthetic one.

The complaint alleges that South Jordan, which owns the golf course, should have created a tree buffer between the third and fourth holes. The lawsuit claims the city didn't do adequate safety inspections.
