Utah's late-week weather may not be a trip to Dollywood, but it is one Dolly Parton would like.

Sure, Friday, like Thursday, was to be punctuated by thunderstorms and showers along the Wasatch Front. Still, that would be fine for the most honored female country singer ever, who once opined: "The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain."

Under partly cloudy skies, the Salt Lake and Tooele valleys will shoulder a series of thunderstorms and isolated showers on Friday, with winds of 10-20 mph thrown in. High temperatures on Friday will be in the mid- to upper-60s, the same as forecast for Thursday.

Southern Utahns won't escape the occasionally wild, wet weather, either. Utah's Dixie looked for a breezy Friday of morning and afternoon showers, and highs in the low- to mid-70s. That was a mirror image of Thursday's expectations.

The Utah Division of Air Quality lit up with "green," or healthy conditions for all monitoring stations heading into the weekend.

The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website had a less exciting forecast for allergy sufferers, however. Mulberry, oak and maple were "very high" on the pollen index as of Thursday; cottonwood was "high," and cedar, sycamore, ash and mold came in at "moderate" levels.
