Unified Police were hunting for two gunmen who opened fire on a Kearns man early Thursday morning, wounding him in the leg.

UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said the victim, who was taken to the hospital in fair condition, told police he had just returned home, in the 4400 West block of 5900 South, about 2 a.m., when the incident occurred.

Two suspects — both Latino males, one short and heavy-set with a red hat, white shirt and backpack; the other 5-foot-10, and thin — approached on foot, shouted at the victim and shot him as he got out of his car.

Hoyal said the shooting appeared to be targeted, not random.

The incident remained under investigation, with a motive yet to be determined.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call UPD at 385-468-9815.
