A California trio packing numerous bogus credit cards has been arrested after allegedly racking up a plethora of illicit purchases at Summit County's Tanger Outlet Mall.

Sheriff's Lt. John Lange said suspects — two men, ages 34 and 30, and a 22-year-old woman — were arrested and booked into the Summit County jail on Tuesday. They also are suspected in a string of other fraudulent credit card purchases between California and Utah, including a sporting goods store in Price.

In all, the threesome allegedly shopped at 19 Park City area stores, using cards that, while bearing their names, had to be entered by clerks manually. When some of the cards were declined, the suspects just produced other cards to make purchases, Lange said.

Alerted by the businesses, deputies located the suspects in a rental car loaded with the recently purchased merchandise.

Further investigation revealed that the same threesome may have been in Utah earlier this year on a similar criminal spree.

The suspects remained in jail Wednesday on suspicion of numerous felony fraud and other counts.
