Utah County deputies have identified Eric Spencer Hansen of Spanish Fork as the motorcyclist who died Saturday after crashing near Utah Lake.

Hansen, 31, was driving a dirt bike on an unpaved road near Sandy Beach, which is on Utah Lake's southeastern shore, said Utah County sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon.

He attempted to pass a pickup truck, but the pickup made a right turn and the two crashed about 3:05 p.m., Cannon said. Hansen was not wearing a helmet.

Witnesses and a riding partner started CPR, which a deputy continued when he arrived on scene, according to the sheriff's office. Hansen was taken in extremely critical condition to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
