The Utah Highway Patrol has identified the victim in one of a series of crashes triggered by high winds and dust that left a stretch of westbound Interstate 80 in a brownout.

UHP Sgt. Todd Royce said Robert John Eggli, 65, of Layton, died of injuries sustained when the vehicle he was in crashed into one of six semi-trailer rigs and 10 other vehicles caught in a 12:20 p.m. Tuesday pileup about 70 miles east of Wendover.

In all, 18 other people were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries in the wake of those crashes.
