A wildfire destroyed two cabins and forced evacuations near Sevier County's Fish Lake, according to the Sevier County Sheriff's Office.

Winds of 30 to 40 mph spread the Quakie Haven Fire over more than 100 acres Tuesday before it slowed amid dropping temperatures and snow Tuesday night, fire officials said. Two cabins were destroyed and several others sustained minor damage, Sevier County Sheriff Nate Curtis wrote in an update. Several summer homes were evacuated but none was threatened by fire as of Tuesday night, Curtis wrote.

Ground crews attacked the blaze, as winds prevented any aerial attack of the fire. Winds near Fish Lake were expected to gust up to 60 mph late Tuesday, but temperatures were expected to drop to well below freezing, according to National Weather Service reports. One to 2 inches of snow was expected overnight.
