A veteran ski instructor at the Deer Valley Resort has died of injuries suffered when he collided with a lift tower pole.

Park City police identified the victim of the Sunday afternoon accident, at the Sterling Express Chairlift tower, as 42-year-old Rafal "Rafi" Uzieblo, of Pinebrook.

Police investigators concluded the death, which occurred as Uzieblo was skiing on the Bird's Eye run of Bald Mountain, was an accident.

He had worked for Deer Valley seven years, resort officials said.

The accident occurred on the last day of Deer Valley's ski season.
