A 3-year-old girl suffered serious burns after she pulled a pot of boiling water off the stove Monday afternoon in Eagle Mountain.

The girl was flown to the University of Utah's burn unit with serious burns on both the front and back of her torso, said Utah County Sheriff's spokesman Spencer Cannon.

"It doesn't appear to be life-threatening but, as with all burn injuries, there's a lot that can change over the first couple of days," Cannon said.

Investigators believe the girl was supervised but got hold of the pot before an adult could prevent it, Cannon said.

"Anyone with kids has had something like this — or near misses," Cannon said.
