The Easter Bunny is getting an extended gig in Utah, thanks to the Unified Police Department, the Jordan School District and a National Sheriffs Association program benefiting special needs children.

UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said the holiday hare, with recent Easter Egg hunts now finished, will make an encore at the Kauri Sue Hamilton School, 2827 W. 13400 S, in Riverton, on Monday.. The, legendary bigger-than-life cottontail's assistants for the 9 a.m. gift basket event will include Salt Lake County Sheriff Jim Winder, deputies and UPD officers.

It is the Utah edition of a nationwide, annual law enforcement partnership with The Easter Bunny Inc., a non-profit organization. The Kauri Sue Hamilton School is this year's program selection.

The school for students with severe and/or multiple disabilities was built on land donated by Cletus and Sharon Hamilton in gratitude for the Jordan School District's services to their daughter, Kauri Sue.
