Farmington • A 21-year-old Ogden man accused of gunning down his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend during an argument pleaded not guilty to charges Thursday.

Jory Arlow Fenstermaker made a brief court appearance in a Farmington courtroom Thursday morning, where he pleaded not guilty to first-degree felony murder in the March 15 death of Randy Lennell Lewis, a 29-year-old from Kansas City, Mo.

Fenstermaker is expected in court again on June 18 for a pretrial conference.

In addition to tensions from a purported love triangle, Davis County sheriff's authorities have said drugs and alcohol also likely fueled the deadly altercation at a home near 900 N. 3200 West.

According to a probable cause statement filed in court, the female homeowner told police that Fenstermaker and Lewis were involved in a "minor verbal argument," when the defendant allegedly pulled a handgun out and pointed it at the victim.

"[The] homeowner tried to break up the fight and heard a gunshot," detectives wrote in the probable cause statement. "She said that the suspect ran out of the residence through the front door and she saw that the victim had blood coming from his stomach."

Lewis, who died shortly after being rushed to the hospital, reportedly was the father of Fenstermaker's girlfriend's two children. He was visiting the woman and children from out of state. The children, who were sleeping in the house at the time of the shooting, were unharmed.

Fenstermaker surrendered to deputies later the next day during a traffic stop in Farmington.

He is currently being held in the Davis County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
