Ogden police believe alcohol was factor in multi-vehicle, hit-and-run crashes that put two people in the hospital, one of them in critical condition.

Just before 10 p.m. Thursday, a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, described by witnesses as traveling recklessly and at a high rate of speed, slammed into a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu sedan that was making a left turn at the intersection of 37th Street and Harrison Boulevard.

Ogden police Lt. Nate Cline said that the Silverado sped from the scene, continuing south on Harrison and struck an oncoming 1996 Toyota 4 Runner. The Silverado again did not stop until it hit a third northbound vehicle, a 1999 Nissan Sentra, a short distance away.

The driver of the Nissan Sentra suffered multiple injuries and remained in critical condition at the hospital on Friday. The driver of the Silverado was in fair condition, while the drivers of the Chevrolet Malibu and Toyota 4 Runner were not injured.

Further information on the motorists involved was not immediately released due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.

However, while no citations had been issued as of Friday, Cline did indicate that it appeared the Silverado's driver had been drinking prior to the incidents.
