Box Elder County search and rescue crews and Utah State Parks personnel continued to search the Great Salt Lake's Willard Bay on Monday for a missing fisherman, 45-year-old Matthew Rasmussen.

According to a news release from Utah State Parks, Rasmussen launched his boat at the Willard Bay State Park marina Sunday morning around 8 a.m. Parks Lt. Eric Stucki said the search began when the Morgan County angler was reported overdue by family about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

About 10 p.m., the man's boat, empty except for his fishing gear, was located about 100 feet offshore, on the south end of the bay.

No trace of Rasmussen had been found by searchers in boats and divers, who searched through the night and Monday's daylight hours.

Officials said Monday that unless the Box Elder County Sheriff's Office makes an official request for volunteers, people should not go to Willard Bay to assist with the search.
