Each Friday, The Salt Lake Tribune presents images in a special series called A Look Back. This week's installment features photos from the game and lead-up to the 1979 NCAA Championship between the Michigan State Spartans and Indiana State Sycamores. Future NBA legends Earvin "Magic" Johnson and Larry Bird squared off in the historic basketball game at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City. Michigan State defeated Indiana State 75-64.
