One man is dead after an early Sunday morning shooting inside a West Point home.

Police were called to the Davis County home near 3200 W. 900 North just after midnight, according Davis County Sheriff Sgt. DeeAnn Servey.

Servey said two men and one woman were at the West Point home when an argument erupted between the two men, one 29 years old and the other 21.

"They were just hanging out, drinking at this house and an argument ensued," Servey said. "One was the ex-boyfriend [of the homeowner] and the other was the new boyfriend."

At some point, the argument escalated and the 29-year-old man was shot. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. Servey said the two may have been fighting over the woman, but police are still investigating the motive for the shooting.

The alleged shooter walked away from the home and was arrested Sunday afternoon in Farmington after a countywide manhunt that included the use of a Department of Public Safety helicopter and K9 units.

"We also sent out a reverse-911 [call]," Servey said. "They got the notification to stay in their home, that we were looking for a suspect in your area, to lock your doors and stay inside."

The alleged shooter was in a vehicle when he was caught by police, and was arrested without incident, Servey said.

Servey did not identify either of the men Sunday, though Davis County jail records indicate 21-year-old Jory Fenstermaker was booked into the jail that afternoon on suspicion of aggravated murder.
