Spanish Fork police have identified Lynn Jennifer Groesbeck as the woman who died after her car crashed into the Spanish Fork River.

The 25-year-old Springville woman's baby daughter was also in the car, strapped into a carseat, when a fisherman found them Saturday. Officers were dispatched to the scene about 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

The 18-month-old girl remains in critical condition at Primary Children's Hospital, but has been stabilized, according to a police news release.

Police believe Groesbeck's car apparently hit the side of a bridge near Arrowhead Trail and Main Street before falling into the river.

Groesbeck's family said she left Salem about 10 p.m. Friday to drive to her Springville home, said police Lt. Matt Johnson. He said a resident near the river thought he heard something Friday night and checked the area but didn't see anything. Based on that, the accident might have occurred between 10 and 10:30 p.m., Johnson said.
