A Goshen man was killed and a woman injured Wednesday morning during a head-one collision on Redwood Road in Utah County.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said the crash, reported about 5:40 a.m., occurred when 30-year-old Santos Chavarria's northbound Mitsubishi Mirage crossed the center line and collided with a southbound Dodge Caravan about 2 miles north of Elberta, on the west side of Utah Lake.

Chavarria, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was dead at the scene. The 22-year-old female van driver — who was wearing her seatbelt — was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Royce said the accident scene was closed for nearly six hours while troopers investigated and wreckage was cleared.
