A collision between a car and a TRAX train meant delays for light rail passengers commuting through downtown Salt Lake City early Tuesday afternoon.

The car struck the train near the Courthouse Station, at 600 S. Main Street, about noon. Subsequent TRAX trains were being switched onto the remaining track to get through the area while police investigated and wreckage was cleared.

The driver of the car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, but no one on the train was reported hurt.

Utah Transit Authority spokesman Remi Barron said that by 12:45 p.m, wreckage had been cleared and trains were proceeding through the area — though riders would experience delays of 20-30 minutes until trains caught up with their schedules.
