St. George police scrambled Thursday after an 11-year-old boy disappeared on his way to school.

The boy, reported overdue at school after having left home at 7:30 a.m., was located a few hours later, unharmed, and returned to the custody of his parents.

Police used the reverse 911 system — earlier activated as the search for the youth had begun — to let residents know the situation was resolved, and that a missing person alert had been cancelled.

Details on where the boy was found, other than "in the area" between his home and his school, were not released. However, police said there were no suspicious circumstances involved.
