An Ogden chiropractor has been ordered to stand trial for allegedly sexually assaulting a female patient at his office.

Michael W. Wimmer, 67, is charged in 2nd District Court with second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse.

The charge stems from an incident on June 25 when he allegedly clutched the woman's breasts and buttocks during an appointment at Wimmer Chiropractic Center, 413 Washington Blvd. in Ogden.

Following a preliminary hearing on Monday, Judge W. Brent West ordered Wimmer to stand trial on the charge.

Wimmer, who entered a not guilty plea, is expected back in court on March 11 for a pre-trial conference.

Ogden police Lt. Danielle Croyle has said that while investigating the woman's allegations, detectives found it was not first time Wimmer had purportedly participated in "similar inappropriate and criminal behavior.

"The Department of Professional Licensing (DOPL) has received additional reports of similar type behavior involving Dr. Wimmer and have taken procedural action against him," Croyle said in October after Wimmer was charged.

"There are seven other reports of inappropriate behavior, though they may not rise to the level of the charge just filed [against Wimmer]," she said.

DOPL records show that in November 1994, Wimmer had pleaded "no contest" to a lewdness misdemeanor involving a patient. In October 2006, Wimmer's license was revoked after he stipulated to having acted in "an inappropriately sexual manner" with another female patient, but DOPL stayed the revocation on condition of a 3-year probation.

One of the terms of Wimmer's probation was that he undergo, at his own expense, psychosexual evaluation. In October 2009, having met the probationary terms, his license was formally reinstated.

Wimmer has been free on $10,000 bail.
