Police were hunting downtown Salt Lake City Thursday for male suspect who held up the Zions Bank branch at the City Creek Mall.

SLCPD Detective Veronica Montoya said the suspect — a slim, beaded swarthy male, 25-30 years old, 5-foot-11, and wearing a black and gray jacket with a black beanie-style cap — walked up to a clerk about 9:20 a.m., demanded and received money, and then fled on foot.

The suspect was last seen heading westbound on 100 South from Main Street.

Montoya said it was not immediately known in the suspect was armed, or claimed to be armed at the time of the robbery.

However, by early Thursday afternoon, police had secured and released images of the suspect from the mall and bank security cameras.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000, or anonymously text the keyword TIPSLCPD plus any relevant information to CRIMES 274637.
