A violent Utah fugitive with alleged gang ties has been arrested by federal marshals in California.

Marilyn Felkner of the Salt Lake Area Gang Project said that Michael Steven Bonilla, 19 — wanted on six felony counts of attempted murder and four felony counts of discharging a firearm — was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in Sacramento, Calif.

Felkner said the marshals, acting on tips and "other investigative leads," traced Bonilla to a Sacramento residence. When he was spotted leaving the home, the marshals moved in and arrested him without incident.

Utah's Unified Police Department is working the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office to extradite Bonilla back to the state.

Bonilla was wanted for his involvement in a gang-related, 2013 shooting incident in Kearns.
