Officials have released police body cam footage of a Syracuse man who was shot and killed by police last month after allegedly firing a rifle at the officers.

On Jan. 8, Davis County and Syracuse police officers responded to Thomas G. Hamby's home on a domestic disturbance. After officers arrived at the home, near 3000 West and 2100 South, Hamby came out and reportedly fired at police with a .22-caliber rifle, according to letter from the Utah Attorney General's Office.

Officers returned fire and Hamby, 49, died days later.

The Attorney General's Office determined Tuesday that the shooting was justified.
