A TRAX train and car collided in downtown Salt Lake City, bringing light rail traffic to a halt early Thursday afternoon at the Arena station.

Public safety dispatchers said that no serious injuries were reported in the 12:19 p.m. accident, which occurred when a blue car driven by an elderly woman, making a left turn against the light, pulled into the path of the slow-moving Green line train near West Temple and 300 West.

Utah Transit Authority spokesman Remi Barron said one woman aboard the train had reportedly complained of back pain, but declined treatment or transport to the hospital.

Both Green and Blue lines into and out of downtown were affected into early afternoon, but by 1:30 p.m. delays were minimal and wreckage was nearly cleared.
