A half-hour, high-speed chase that began on Interstate 15 finally came to an end after tire spikes were laid in I-80's Parleys Canyon and two suspects taken into custody.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said the pursuit, with speeds exceeding 100 mph, began shortly after 2:50 a.m. Wednesday when a UHP trooper pulled over a white Ford pickup truck at 200 S. 500 West for not having its headlights on.

When the trooper got out of his cruiser to approach the vehicle, the driver sped off, entering southbound I-15 and then eastbound I-80.

The truck didn't stop until shortly after troopers laid the tire spike strips on I-80 near Kimball Junction, taking out both front tires.

A male and a female, both 23, were arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County jail after drugs and alcohol were found inside the vehicle.
