A 67-year-old woman was in serious condition Thursday after being struck while crossing a Provo street, police said.

The incident, reported about 10 a.m., occurred as the woman stepped into the intersection of 900 E. 700 north. Witnesses told officers that the woman was in a crosswalk, but walking against the light, when she was hit by a southbound vehicle.

No citations were initially issued as the incident remained under investigation.
