Ogden firefighters evacuated 20 residents from an apartment complex late Monday night, but managed to contain flames mostly to the attic of one building.

Most of the damage to the six affected units of Brentwood Apartments, 4564 Harrison Blvd. was limited to smoke and water. The occupants of those found temporary shelter with friends and family, OFD officials said.

The cause of the fire, reported about 10:40 p.m. Monday, remained under investigation.

Losses initially were estimated at more than $100,000.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke billowing from the attic above the third floor of the building. The blaze was quickly controlled and extinguished by midnight.

No injuries were reported.
