An 11-month-old girl is expected to make a full recovery after having been hospitalized following a near-drowning incident in South Ogden this weekend.

South Ogden police Lt. Dwight Ruth said on Monday that the infant could be discharged soon from Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.

"It looks as if the baby will be OK. She could be released in the next day or two," Ruth said.

The incident occurred about 2:20 p.m. Saturday while the mother was bathing the child. Paramedics arrived a the home in the 3600 South block of Orchard Ave. and transported the baby to Ogden Regional Medical Center, from where she was flown by helicopter to Salt Lake City.
