Cache County Sheriff's Search and Rescue crews conducted a cross-border mission to save a man seriously injured in a snowmobiling accident.

Sheriff's Lt. Brian Locke said the victim, 41-year-old Maurice Atwood of Brigham City, was hurt 2 p.m. Wednesday when his snowmobile crashed into a tree about 6 miles north of the Utah-Idaho border and a mile east of Danish Pass.

Rescues brought a rescue sled to the scene and transported Atwood to a medical helicopter, which then flew him to an Ogden-area hospital.

He was in serious condition Thursday with unspecified, but non-life threatening injuries.
