A water main broke on 3300 South in South Salt Lake on Sunday, causing a sinkhole and partial road closures.
Eastbound traffic on 3300 South will be closed from Main to State Street “for several hours” and possibly until Monday, the South Salt Lake Police Department announced on its Facebook page.
“The area is congested and additional roadway closures will vary depending on the assessment to fix the roadway,” the department added.
Police are asking drivers to avoid the area and take an alternate route.
In May, a sinkhole that opened in Salt Lake City on 1300 South between 700 and 900 West swallowed a car.
