St. George, Utah • The only homeless shelter in a southwestern Utah city is looking for new funding after a state grant has dried up.
KUTV-TV reports the Switchpoint Community Resource Center in St. George has received more than $400,000 in state grant funding each year.
Officials say the grant money has funded its case management program that helps residents fill out heath care paperwork, build resumes and hunt for jobs.
Switchpoint board member Mary Helen Stricklen says the shelter is looking to work with local businesses, city officials and other organizations in an effort to make up for the missing funding.
Stricklen says if new funding cannot be located, the shelter will need to be restructured, which could put people back out on the streets.
The shelter currently serves about 100 people.
