Police have identified the victim in Wednesday’s fatal accident when a Cadillac Escalade hit a man crossing the street, killing him.

Taylorsville resident Robert Harsh, 19, was using the crosswalk at 4200 South and Redwood Road in Taylorsville when he was struck by the SUV. When police responded to the scene Harsh was found 100 yards from the crosswalk, and was pronounced dead.

Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke said the driver of the vehicle was 27-year-old Roxanna Molina. Molina allegedly fled the scene and was found at a Walgreens a few blocks away. Her vehicle had sustained significant damage and had broken down.

Police say they arrested Molina as she attempted to flee to another vehicle. While questioned, Molina initially gave several stories before saying she had taken several shots and drank several beers before driving to a party. She said she was speeding when she hit Harsh, and reports from the scene claimed she ran a red light.

Molina said she knew she hit someone but continued driving.

Molina was booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of felony charges of automobile homicide and failure to remain at the scene, as well as misdemeanor DUI.
